Busy, Busy Busy.
Publicity:
I've gotten a scan of the Sarah Bernhardt poster from Deone. I'm working up a mockup based on it, and I think I've got it.
Notice I've changed the wording to make it much more fun and less weddingish. Nelle - I'll use the "opening night of the rest of our life" line somewhere in the reception. I just couldn't make it mesh well with the rest of this. I'll keep thinking on it, as well. The invitation will be glued into a pochette:

I'm thinking one of this color:

The good news: although I was originally looking at making these inner envelopes, I've discovered a website where I can buy them for less than 50 cents apiece. I'll seal them either with a gold sticker or sealing wax. I also need to design two enclosures: a map and a postcard response card. I need to make sure I leave a phone, mail, or email option on the response card. Finally, the whole thing will be bound up in a lined envelope:
.
So, basically, it's just a matter of: 1) Designing the response card and the map; and 2) Getting over the sticker shock from Tax Day and loosening the pursestrings up to buy the materials.
A few questions:
1) If I put three potential ways to contact me on the response card: phone, email or mail back the card, will people get confused?
2) Anything unintentionally offensive in the wording? Specifically, will anyone take offense at the incorporation of "limited seating is available"? I'm just putting that part in as cute theater language in lieu of the "RSVP by".
3) Does anyone have a really awesome papercutter I could borrow - one that measures stuff out exactly and cuts a very straight line, etc.? I've got a guillotine style, but I've noticed it has a tendency to list to the right and I'm not sure how that's even possible. It's probably getting dull. (Don? You got one at work?)
4) Has anyone used both spray adhesive and those scrapbooking sticker backers (not the $300 ones but the handheld $9 model) and could tell me which would be better for this particular job?
5) I'm thinking Reception should not be capitalized, but I'm too lazy to go back and correct it then cut and paste yet another screen shot. I'll change it later.
SIDE NOTE: in the mock-up I have the wedding at 2:00. I have no idea what time we can have it yet. Just so you know.
Catering:
I'm going to try my own cake this weekend. My choices: to make a six-inch and a nine-inch layered lemon cake. I'll put a buttercream frosting outside of that with an Orange flavoring. On top of that, I'll put the marshmallow fondant, flavored with lemon and almond. Should be pretty citrusy. Think I should add a hint of vanilla to the fondant?

hey the invitation looks really cool - the only point I would note as you did - the limited seating - I understand the theatre language - but it sounds like if you don't reply quickly there won't be a seat available for you. Just a thought. Also you need to note in the reception section - yes reception should be lower case - and you need to add an "at" before the name of the place - that's the editor in me ... otherwise - it's beautiful!
looks good. oh, and the line was from Deone, not me.
Mixed feelings about the limited seating wording. The one possitive thing I see from it is that people may get there RSVP in a lot quicker.
