Status Update

RELIGIOUS STUFF:
We survived Pre-Cana last weekend and are going to meet with Father either next week or the week after. At that point, I should finally get the details on what time of day we can have the wedding, which will allow me to actually print the invitations. I've got all the invitation supplies, I just need the final lists to put them together and mail them. They need to go out by May 26th - as I understand it, two months is the standard time. I'll also find out if some of my ideas - like having theater programs for the wedding - will be allowed.

COSTUMING:
I got my headpiece and veil ordered (more Ebay finds):

Vintage Style Swarovski Crystal Tiara Hair Comb
Materials:
All genuine Swarovski crystals in a gold tone metal base.
This piece is signed SNK on the back and is authentic.
Size:
1.75" tall and 4" wide.

2 tiers with beautiful 1/8 inch satin rattail cording.
This veil has Swarovski rhinestones and faux pearls scattered all over the veil. The tiers of this veil are 25 and 30 inches in length. It is made out of Bridal Illusion, which is a high quality tulle that is soft on the skin and is used widely by elite bridal and wedding designers. It has 72 inch width for standard fullness, and is attached to a clear comb for comfortable placement and wearing.

The base price for the two was about $60, though with shipping it came to about $90. Still, it's about half what I'd pay in the bridal stores. Gots to love the ebay.

As far as I can tell, Tracy and Nelle are going to use dresses they've already got. Nelle's sparkles, so we should have us some shine.

DECORATING
The ribbon wasn't good. The gold was not "wired" in the standard sense and won't hold a bow the way I like. The jaquard was more a cottony faded-blue-jeans type. However, for $5 per roll, I spent less than $50 and can use it for present wrapping. Also, I could use the gold for other stuff, like wrapping bouquet handles, so it's not a total waste. (It was a risk, since you can't return clearance items, but I thought I'd take the chance).

ENTERTAINMENT
I've been in email contact with Scott and Michelle Dalziel and they can play the reception. I need to call her to iron out the details. Angie Toomsen and Jim Verry have offered to sing at the ceremony. (For those not in the IC Theater scene, Angie has been in several shows with me, and has an awesome voice - she sings professionally with her band Violet Island, and has done several things with City Circle. Jim also has an incredible voice and has done more musicals than I can list, the last thing I recall seeing was Seussical in the Englert, where he played the mayor. Scott and Michelle are family friends who are also professional musicians, playing all over the country.)

PHOTOS
Angie said a few people in CIA (Comics in Action, the improv group Dennis and Brian belong to) do wedding photography, and she's going to try to hook me up. I'm liking the idea of not using "vendors," just friends who happen to do these things for a living. Makes the whole thing less formal and more family. However, I've got to get back with her soon because if they can't do it, I need to expand my search.

PLANNING
The Ellens and I are meeting on Friday, as Ellen K has pointed out that I'm rather behind in the whole shower thing. I've been assigned to acquire a basic guest list and some shower dates, and to come up with ideas for the bachelorette party.

CAKE
Haven't done anything since the pink pepto-bismol nightmare a few weeks back. I know, I need to get on this. Working on it.
