I need to do up programs by the 25th when I'm meeting with Father, so I get the official church "okay" on them. I'm trying to make them like theater programs, but still keep in mind the solemnity of the occasion. Here's the wording I'm stuck on:

'Normal' wedding programs:

Jane Doe - Bride
John Smith - Groom

June Doe - Mother of the Bride
James Doe - Father of the Bride
(etc.)

Given my parents are deceased, I'm having Mike and Gretchen walk me down the aisle. According to what I've seen on a google search. In googling wedding programs, it appears this is usually handled like this:

Jane Doe - Bride
John Smith - Groom

Mike Doe - Uncle and Escort of the Bride
Gretchen Smith - Aunt and Escort of the Bride

. . .

In memoriam:
June and James Doe

Either that, or they eliminate June and James entirely. Seems off to me, particularly given how recently my parents have died.

Theater does it differently, something roughly like this:

Jane Doe - Bride
John Smith - Groom

June Doe - Mother of the Bride*
James Doe - Father of the Bride*

. . .

* The roles of Mother of the Bride will be played by Kristin's aunt Gretchen Smith, and Father of the Bride will be played by Kristin's uncle Mike Doe.

That seems a bit much (crass, perhaps?) given the occasion. However, it does get everyone's name in there. In thinking about it, I think the "played by" is what puts it over the top, as if this really is all just for show.

So I'm trying to find some wording that would, like the theater option, allow me to put in everyone, but would specifically avoid making this all seem too much as though it's just an act.
